TikTok is not a new application but we do not always know how to adapt to it when we install it and it can be a bit chaotic at first but these are some of the best tricks for TikTok if you are lost or do not know where to start. Or if your children want to use the app and you want them to do it safely.
From creating videos without the need to use your hands, making them private so that no one sees them, or creating them to share them on WhatsApp. Some of the best TikTok tricks for all skill levels, beginners, and experts. Save data, control your privacy, or prevent your account from being stolen.
Create videos with photos
Not only do you have to dance if you are not good at it, but you can also make videos with slides or photos that you have on your mobile phone. There is a maximum of 35 images that you can upload from the gallery for a single video and you will not need to have any other video editing app, it will be enough to do it from TikTok.
You can choose effects, filters, the music you want, or the speed of the video. Of course, the slides will always be 35, you cannot add more. Yes, you can add less.
- Open TikTok and click on "+" in the main app
- You will see the video recording screen, with the camera
- Tap on the lower right corner "Load"
- Your gallery will open with all your available photos
- Choose as many as you want (maximum 35, remember)
- Confirm with the "Sequence" button
- TikTok will automatically turn them into a slideshow video
- Choose the music you want to put on the video
- Choose available filters and decide the format of transitions
- Click on "Next" to continue
You can upload it as a normal video and from the publish screen you can add mentions, hashtags, or tag whoever you want. You can also decide if the video is public or private.
Do duos or reactions
TikTok duos or reactions are practically the same and allow us to make funny videos commenting on or imitating other popular ones.
The difference between one and the other is the format in which it is displayed: in the duo the screen is divided into two equal parts with the main video on the left and ours on the right.
In the case of TikTok reactions, there are not two equal parts, but we see a small box on the screen with the original video and in the rest of it we appear.
The audios are complementary so your followers will listen to both at the same time.
To make reaction videos or duos on TikTok, you just have to go to a content that you like and tap on the arrow that we will see between the icons on the right side of the screen.
Next, you will see a series of options appear: Report, Save Video, Use this effect, Duo, Paste, React, Add to Favorites, Animated photo, Share as GIF ... The two options that interest us are "Duo" and "React".
Once you have chosen any of them, you can record your video in parallel, imitating or commenting on the other person's video.
As we say, the audios will be merged simultaneously although you can choose if you want yours or the other to be heard more or less through a drop-down control in the app.
As in the other TikTok videos, you can add effects, filters, volume control, and all kinds of options.
Choose who reacts or duos with you
They can also make duos or reactions with your videos unless you deactivate it from the settings. As long as you have the public application you can deactivate it, if you have it private it will not be necessary because by default no one can react or duos with you. To disable it:
- Open the TikTok app
- Go to Yo, in the right corner of the app
- Open the settings by tapping on the three dots
- In Settings and Privacy, go to Privacy
- From "Security" you will see Who can ...
- Choose who can Duo your videos
- Choose
- Everybody
- friends
- Nobody
- See who can react to your videos
- Choose again between Everyone / Friends / Nobody
Upload videos privately
You want to make videos on TikTok using the effects and options of the app but you don't want anyone to see them ... You can.
You can do it to later send it by WhatsApp or simply to test the application. Only you can view or download it.
- Go to TikTok and tap on the + in the center of the app
- Record the video you want
- Add the effects, filters and more
- Go to the publishing screen
- You will see that it says "Who can see this video"
- Choose from the options
- Followers
- friends
- Private
- Choose Private and the video will be exclusive to you
Whenever you want you can go back to that video to edit privacy. From your profile, you will find a private video section and you can review the settings and privacy settings in case you want it to be available to followers or friends in the future.
Save your videos
If you like TikTok videos thanks to the possibilities it allows but you don't want to have another social network, you can use it as a video editor and then only pass it on to your friends, your partner, your family group on WhatsApp.
In that case, you can create the videos privately (as we explained just in the previous section) and check the option "Save to device".
Only you will see your videos but you will also have them in the phone gallery to share them on other social networks or through WhatsApp groups with your closest friends.
You simply have to go to the last screen, Publish ”. Once there you will see a series of options that you can activate or deactivate with switches. Among them, "Save to device" that will allow us to have a copy in the gallery as well as publish it.
Share on Instagram
You can share TikTok videos on Instagram by linking the two accounts you have. So you can find a button that will directly allow you to share from one social network to another.

- Go to Yo and you will see your profile
- Tap on Edit Profile
- At the bottom, look for "Add Instagram to your profile"
- A pop-up window will open with log in to Instagram
- Log in with your username and password
- Confirm and authorize to complete the process
Once you have linked it and when you go to upload a video, you will see that on the "Publish" screen there is a button at the bottom with the Instagram icon. This will allow you to publish or share your videos also on this social network.
Control your account privacy
Put your private account to be able to enjoy the filters and the advantages of TikTok but without having privacy problems. If you just want to dance with your friends and don't want anyone you don't know to see it, you can mark it as private.
To see your content, as happens in other similar apps, they will have to send you a friend request and you can choose if you want to accept it or not.

Activate 2-step verification
To avoid hacks, TikTok's two-step verification will help us not to steal our account unless someone has physical access to your mobile phone, which will be difficult if it is not stolen or you do not lend it to someone.
If the app detects that someone has logged in from an unknown mobile or device, it will send you a security code that you will have received by SMS.
- Open Settings and privacy
- Go to Security
- Tap on Two-Step Verification
- Turn it on
- Choose "SMS" and enable
- You will see the associated phone number for security verification
- Choose authorized trusted devices
- Don't add anyone on trusted devices except your mobile phone.
Activate the timer to record
You do not need to be holding the phone to record the video you want, you can activate a timer. Like other options, you will find it in the icons on the right side of TikTok when recording a video.
You will see the "Time" section where you can set the time you want it to be recorded without having to hold the button down. You choose if you want it to start in 3 or 10 seconds and then it will record only the time you want, from 0 seconds to 15 seconds, the maximum available. You have to repeat the process every time you record a clip if you want there to be several.
Choose the recording speed
You can choose the recording speed in TikTok with what you will get fun and original effects in slow motion or fast motion even if your phone does not have this function by default.
There are five recording options: from 0.3x to 3x depending on whether you want it to go slower than normal or faster than normal.
To activate it, you just have to go to the icons on the right side of the application and tap on "speed" when you are on the video recording screen.
You can change the recording speed in each of the fragments you make, it should not always be the same.
Manage screen time
If your children use TikTok on your mobile phone because they are too young to have their own smartphone, you can control the time they use the app from the TikTok digital detox settings.
You can go to this section and Screen time management to decide how much time per day they can use TikTok. Without a password, they will not be able to use it more than this time.

- Open the section Time management on screen
- Choose the maximum daily time to use the app

Restricted mode
There is also a restricted mode related to the use of children and TikTok and what it allows us to limit the contents or prohibit access to certain things.
You do not choose what you see, but TikTok uses a filter where it blocks everything it considers inappropriate for all audiences or adults. You can also activate it from the Digital Detox section.
