The official presentation of Google's iconic Pixel 5 smartphone was held, as well as the Pixel 4a 5G smartphone, which supports fifth-generation networking. The Pixel 5's main ship is powered by a 765G Snapdragon processor, a 6-inch screen, and a dual-sensor main camera (12.2 MP (f/1.7) + 16 MP (f/2.2, 107°)). At the same time, the Pixel 4a 5G smartphone, which received a screen with a larger diagonal of 6.2 inches, has technical parameters almost completely identical to those of the mother ship.
Google decided not to use an expensive high-end processor in its flagship Google Pixel 5 smartphone and chose Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G chip, which is built on 7nm technology and has an average budget. The smartphone also receives 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. The Adreno 620 (625 MHz) is responsible for processing the graphics.
The Google Pixel 5 has a 6-inch Full HD + OLED screen with support for a 90Hz refresh rate. The Corning Gorilla 6 glass provides protection against mechanical damage, with a round hole in the upper left corner of the screen for the front camera with an 8-megapixel sensor.
The main camera with two sensors is located in a rectangular module in the upper left corner of the back of the smartphone. The main camera of Google Pixel 5 has a 12.2MP f / 1.7 sensor similar to Pixel 3 and a 16MP wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2, 107°).
During the presentation, Google focused on the improved photographic features of Pixel 5 and presented several photos taken with the main camera in the main hall. The ability to customize the lighting in the finished photos was also demonstrated.
The security of the smartphone is ensured by a fingerprint sensor equipped with the Titan M security chip, which is located in the center of the back of the smartphone. The smartphone's housing is certified with the water resistance class that meets IP68, which means that programmers had to dispense with the 3.5 mm audio connector.
The autonomous operation of the Google Pixel 5 smartphone is guaranteed by a 4000 mAh battery that allows for fast charging (18 W), wireless Qi charging and wireless reverse charging. The smartphone will work with Android 11, and Google guarantees the launch of new versions of the operating system for three years.
Depending on the region, the Pixel 5 flagship will be equipped with a single or dual-band module to work with 5G networks. The smartphone packaging will be painted turquoise or mint black.
The second of the Pixel 4 to 5G smartphones will receive almost the same parameters as the flagship. The hardware is also powered by the Snapdragon 765G, but the memory is reduced to 6GB. The Pixel 4a 5G, on the other hand, will have a larger 6.2" OLED display with 2340 x 1080 x 1080 pixels, but with frequent updates at 60 Hz. The model also has a 3.5 mm audio connection.
Another difference between the Pixel 4a 5G and the Google Pixel 5 is the smaller 3800 mAh battery with support for fast but wireless charging technology. The cameras of both models are absolutely identical.
The flagship Google Pixel 5 smartphone will be available in stores for $699, while the Pixel 4a 5G will be available for $499.
