Xiaomi has gained popularity in the smartphone market, not only thanks to its unique pricing policy but also thanks to the constant introduction of the latest innovative technologies. High-speed load support is one of these parameters that is attracting more and more fans of Xiaomi products. For example, the flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, available in China, supports a 120W cable charge, which charges the battery from 0 to 100% in 23 minutes, and a 50W wireless charge.

Xiaomi announces an 80W charger that can charge a smartphone in 19 minutes (video

However, Xiaomi's engineers went even further and sent a video with an 80W wireless charger to the official YouTube channel. The demo video shows the charging process of a modified Mi 10 Pro smartphone with a battery capacity of 4000 mAh. In the first minute, the battery receives 10% of the charge, in 8 and a half minutes, and in 19 minutes the battery is fully charged, a new record for wireless chargers.

Two and a half years ago, in April 2018, Xiaomi launched the first smartphone using wireless charging technology. It was the Mi Mix 2S that supported 7.5W wireless charging technology. In November 2018, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 (3200 mAh) will be launched with 15W wireless charging technology.

The next step in technology development was the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G, which supports 30W wireless charging. The most powerful of Xiaomi's wireless charging smartphones to date is the flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (50W), which focuses exclusively on the Chinese market.

It has not yet been announced which model will receive the new 80W wireless fast charger. There is a high probability that Xiaomi's engineers will have time to implement the technology in the new flagship Xiaomi Mi 11.

One of Xiaomi's main competitors, Oppo, announced the charging of 65W radios in July 2020 (full 4000 mAh recharge in 30 minutes), but this technology has not yet been implemented in the actual production models. Today, the record among smartphones with the fastest wireless charger is the OnePlus 8 Pro with 30W charging power.

Apple's 12 Series smartphones, launched last week, use the MagSafe 15W wireless charger and only 7.5W in Qi transition.
