At the official event, Apple introduced four new smartphone models for 2020. The smallest models in this series are the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12, which received the latest processor support using 5G technology, more advanced cameras, and 5nm process technology.
The design of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini is very similar to the appearance of the iPhone 5 series smartphones. Thus, Apple has standardized the appearance of the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro with typical straight edges.
The main smartphone in the iPhone 12 series will have a 6.1-inch screen, while the smaller iPhone 12 mini will have a 5.4-inch screen. The iPhone 12 is 11% thinner, 15% smaller, and 16% lighter than last year's iPhone 11.
The iPhone 12's OLED Super Retina XDR screen supports 2532x1170 resolution, which is twice as much as the iPhone 11. HDR content is played at a maximum brightness of 1200 nits.
A similar matrix was obtained by the iPhone 12 mini smartphone that supports 2340x1080 resolution. The screens are protected by a more durable ceramic glass called Ceramic Shield, produced in conjunction with Apple's Corning.
This glass is 4 times more durable than the best glass. At the top of the screen, the iPhone, which houses the front camera and Face ID sensor, is protected from explosions.
On smaller iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 smartphones, the main camera, which takes up a large unit with a basic angle, has been significantly improved.
The main unit, which has a 12 MP sensor, received a lens with 7 lenses and f / 1.6 aperture. The ultra-wide-angle lens (f / 2.4) with 12 MP sensor has a viewing area of 120 °.
In addition to the new sensors, the smartphones are equipped with an updated image processing algorithm.
Thus, Smart HDR has been updated to the third version. All cameras, including front cameras, support night video, and photo mode.
Both smartphones are equipped with a 6-core A14 Bionic processor (11.8 billion transistors) made using 5nm process technology. According to the developers, the new processors and GPUs are 50% more efficient than the previous generation.
Both models support 5G networks and operate at a maximum download speed of 4 Gbps. To save energy, the smartphone switches independently between 4G and 5G, focusing on the task at hand.
The new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini smartphones support MagSafe wireless charging with a magnetic holder that holds the device in the charger.
As expected, Apple has refused to connect smartphones to power adapters and headphones. Only one lightning plug is inserted into the USB Type-C cable.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 in Russia will start on October 21, and for the iPhone 12 mini from November 6. Price depending on the change: iPhone 12 with 64 GB of memory - 79 990 rubles, with 128 GB of memory - 84 990 rubles, with 256 GB of memory - 94 990 rubles.
